Dr. Jahidul Islam Sarker is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism at Karabük University, Türkiye. He earned his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Communication at Kocaeli University, Türkiye, and completed both his Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) degrees from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Sarker’s academic interests lie in journalism, political communication, media studies, and Bangladesh–Türkiye relations. His research reflects a strong interdisciplinary orientation, engaging with themes such as media representation, digital communication, bibliometric analysis, public discourse, and international academic collaboration. He has published in a range of peer-reviewed journals and has contributed to scholarly conversations on topics including Islamic banking, media coverage of conflict, social media in COVID-19 research, and the historical and intellectual dimensions of Bangladesh–Türkiye relations.
He has presented his research at numerous academic conferences both in Bangladesh and internationally, strengthening his engagement with global scholarly networks. His growing body of work demonstrates a commitment to critical media inquiry and the broader social, political, and cultural implications of communication research.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Sarker serves as the Coordinator of Planning, Evaluation, and Funding at the Center for Policy and Social Research (CPSR), where he contributes to institutional development, strategic planning, project evaluation, and research funding initiatives.
With a strong foundation in communication studies and a sustained interest in transnational academic and policy issues, Dr. Jahidul Islam Sarker continues to contribute meaningfully to teaching, research, and academic leadership.
