Dr. Tariquil Islam is a Lecturer in Film and Media Studies at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh. He previously served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at World University of Bangladesh, where he contributed to teaching and academic development in communication and media studies.

Dr. Islam earned his Ph.D. in Journalism from Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Türkiye, under a fully funded scholarship from the Turkish government. He completed both his Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) and Master of Social Science (MSS) in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Before entering academia, Dr. Islam built a solid professional foundation with seven years of experience in journalism (2011–2017), working as a reporter and sub-editor in both print and electronic media in Bangladesh. This practical experience continues to inform his academic teaching and research.

His research interests include media and society, political communication, crisis communication, media framing, and issues related to refugees and geopolitics. He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles addressing topics such as media ownership and legitimacy, the Rohingya crisis, social media and COVID-19, and Bangladesh–Türkiye relations.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as the Deputy Coordinator of Planning, Evaluation, and Funding at the Center for Policy and Social Research (CPSR), where he contributes to strategic planning, research evaluation, and funding initiatives.

Since completing his Ph.D. in 2024, Dr. Islam has been actively engaged in academia, contributing to teaching, research, and scholarly discourse in journalism and media studies. His work reflects a commitment to critically examining contemporary media landscapes and their broader social and political implications.
